Abstract
The simplest and least invasive method of providing adequate nutritional support for postoperative convalescent patients is to optimize spontaneous oral intake. They frequently complain of indigestive symptoms-anorexia, epigastric discomfort, bloating, abdominal pain, flatulence, nausea and vomiting.
We observed the effect of a new digestive drug(U-2) for relief of these symptoms in 51 cases during postoperative convalescent period-mostly after GI and biliary operation. After two weeks of administration 84.2% of 38 cases was totally improved. In cases of GI surgery for benign disease and biliary surgery, the rates of improvement were much higher. There was no visible side effect of the drug. In conclusion U-2 was effective and safe for the management of indigestive symptoms after operation.
